Lighting & fans · Greeneville, TN
A new light fixture or ceiling fan makes a room feel different, but hanging one safely takes more than a screwdriver. GPM Electrical handles light fixture installation in Greeneville, TN, from a replacement over the kitchen table to outdoor lights along the driveway and ceiling fans in the bedrooms.
This work is a small part of what Nick Foster does, and we keep the scope simple. Here is what we install, what we check first, and how to get ready.
We install and replace chandeliers, pendants, flush-mount lights, vanity lights, recessed lights, and under-cabinet lights. Before we hang a heavy fixture, we check that the box is secured to the structure and can carry the weight. If the wiring behind an old fixture is brittle or poorly spliced, we fix that, not just cover it. You supply the fixture or tell us what you want, and we make sure it fits the space and works with your switches.
Outdoor lighting needs weather-rated fixtures, sealed connections, and, in many cases, GFCI protection. We install porch lights, flood lights, driveway lights, post lights, and motion-activated lights around the house, garage, and barn. Greene County nights are dark, and a well-placed light at the back door or by the shop makes a real difference. We plan the circuit and the switch so you do not have to run to the breaker panel to turn something off.
For new wiring out to a garage, shop, or porch, see our garage, shop, and addition wiring page.
A ceiling fan swings, vibrates, and pulls on its box, and a standard light box is not made for that. A fan needs a box that is marked as fan-rated and fastened to the framing. If your ceiling has a light box only, we replace it with a fan-rated box, and we can add a wall control or a separate switch for the fan and the light. We balance the fan and check it for wobble before we leave.
If you are adding a fan where no light existed, we run the wiring and the switch. In older homes, that may mean working through an attic or a crawl space to reach the ceiling.
Lights flicker, fans hum, switches buzz. Sometimes the problem is the fixture, sometimes the switch, sometimes a loose connection in the box. We diagnose it, and if it is a repair, we repair it. If the fixture is worn out, we tell you and help you pick a replacement. See our electrical repair page for bigger problems like dead circuits.
We accept cash, check, and Cash App. There is a service-call fee when we need to visit just to look, and we explain it when you call.

Yes, but the box has to be rated for a fan. We replace it if it is not. Do not hang a fan from a standard light box.
You pick the fixture or fan. We install it. If you are not sure what will work, call and describe the room first.
Often, yes. It depends on what is above the ceiling. We look at access and tell you what is realistic.
Many dimmers are not made for LED bulbs. We can swap in a dimmer that matches your bulbs.
Yes. We plan the circuit, use weather-rated parts, and put the switch where you will use it.
