Emergency & Same-Day Electrical Service in Greeneville

When the power goes out, or something in your electrical system looks wrong, you do not want to leave a voicemail and wait. GPM Electrical is a Greeneville emergency electrician that takes urgent calls and offers same-day service, plus evening and weekend appointments, for homes in Greene County and nearby.

  • Emergency calls taken
  • Same-day when the schedule allows
  • Evening & weekend appointments
  • Price before repairs begin

We are a two-person local business, which means the person who answers is the person who will troubleshoot your problem. Here is how to tell what counts as an emergency, what to do before we arrive, and how we handle urgent jobs.

When it is an emergency

Call now if you have any of these:

  • Sparking, popping, or arcing sounds from an outlet, switch, or panel.
  • A burning or hot-plastic smell you cannot trace.
  • A panel or outlet that is hot to the touch.
  • Power out in your house when your neighbors still have it.
  • Storm, tree, or vehicle damage to the wires or meter at your house.
  • Water in a panel, an outlet, or a light fixture.

If you see flames or smoke, get everyone out and call 911 first. Call us after.

What to do before we arrive

  1. Stay away from anything that is sparking, smoking, or wet. Do not touch a burned or hot panel.
  2. If it is safe, turn off the breaker for the affected circuit. Do not open the panel if the area is wet or scorched.
  3. Unplug appliances on the dead or damaged circuit and turn off sensitive electronics.
  4. Keep kids and pets away from fallen or hanging lines. Never touch a downed line, and report it to your power provider.
  5. Take a few photos if you can do it safely. They help us plan the right parts and tools.

Storm and vehicle damage to your service

Greene County storms bring down limbs, and country roads put poles and meter bases in the path of trucks. We have repaired a service line snapped by a semi-truck, and we have replaced a meter box and re-adjusted the power lines to the house. On another storm call, a home was left without power, and we worked through the repairs, including the permit and inspection steps that follow.

The line between your house and the street has two sides. Equipment on your house is yours to repair, and we can fix it. Wires owned by the power provider have to be handled by them. We will tell you which is which, and we coordinate so you are not left in between. See our meter base and service repair page for more.

After-hours calls

Problems do not wait for business hours. We have helped customers by phone late in the evening and gone out on a Sunday-evening call that was fixed the next morning, because some things can be made safe that night and finished the next day properly. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in. Call (423) 620-2283 and leave a message if we cannot pick up. We will call you back.

Same-day service is available, and so are evening and weekend appointments. We do not promise a response time we cannot keep, but we do keep up with our phone.

How emergency pricing works

You hear the price before work begins, even on an urgent call. Diagnostic visits include a service-call fee, which we go over with you when you call. Whenever we can, we diagnose over the phone first and give you an estimate so you know what to expect. We accept cash, check, and Cash App.

Questions

Emergency electrician questions

Straight answers about pricing and how we work. Don’t see your question? Call Nick.

Is my power out because of my house or the power company?

Look at the neighbors. If their lights are on and yours are off, check your main breaker and any tripped breakers. If everyone is out, it is likely the power provider's line. If you see damage at your meter or the wires on your house, call us.

A breaker will not reset. Should I keep trying?

No. A breaker that will not reset, or trips right back, is telling you there is a fault. Leave it off and call. Our guide on why a breaker keeps tripping explains the common causes.

Half my house lost power, but no breaker tripped. What now?

That can be a problem at the service or a failed connection. It is worth a call, and it can be urgent. See our guide on losing power in part of the house for what to check safely.

Do you handle mobile homes in an emergency?

Yes. Mobile homes have their own panel and service setup, and we work on them. Call and describe what you see.

Can you work in the evening or on weekends?

Yes. Evening and weekend appointments are available. Call, and we will tell you what is possible for your situation.
